Carlton Gardens: Snap A Picture. Make Your Own

First-time guests sometimes ask: Do you make all this? Sure, we have a team of elves who work 7 days a week while we’re closed. Actually, we do make some items, and our theme posted on various signs is: “Snap a picture. Make your own.” That goes for everything we sell but especially our own items which are easy to make.

In the last several days I’ve been rummaging through John’s throw-away wood, experimenting with my paint-pens new and old designs.

John makes “pickets” from recycled wood and metal to stand among perennials. These are priced at $39/ea., but he’d prefer you make your own.

Carlton Gardens is much more than an enchanting gift shop with unusual wall hangings, floral arrangements, antiques, and garden décor—with nooks and crannies around every corner. It is a fashion boutique with one-of-a-kind ladies’ dresses and purses, as well as the destination location for dazzling jewelry. And all that can be found wonderfully displayed inside the seven rooms of an old house that has been converted into the main store.

In the surrounding yard and gardens you with find walkways leading to a vast array of yard art, benches, baskets, and unique gifts. Here in this acre of country hidden right inside the city are 4 gazebos, 2 ponds, 2 bridges and 12 out-buildings: the Barn, the Butterfly House, the Garden House, the Olde Wash House, the Christmas House, the Potting Shed, the Outhouse, the Coop, Breton Cottage, the Olde Junk Shoppe, the Apple House, and Chapel by the Bridge, complete with stained glass windows.
